Dr. Flynn’s specialty is treatment of anxiety disorders. She helps people overcome obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and excess worry. Specific phobias such as fear of vomiting, flying, injections, or animals are familiar to her. Dr. Flynn has significant experience with teens and children, as well as adults. She often helps younger patients (and their parents if needed) to address the conditions above, as well as separation fears, school-related stress and behavior problems. Her practice includes helping individuals with depression, and those undergoing stressful transitions such as divorce or adjusting to college. Methods to change problematic thoughts and behaviors are offered, along with support and guidance. Dr. Flynn’s practice is flexible enough to include phone therapy and Skype sessions. Home visits and family consultations are available as well. Dr. Flynn can often be helpful in cases where previous treatment has been unsuccessful. She has the abilty to treat a range of conditions, from mild to severe.
In addition to treatment, Dr. Flynn is involved in teaching, supervision, and consultation. She gives talks to both local groups and scholarly gatherings. In recent years, she has been involved in speaking and/or teaching at all 3 major universities in St. Louis. Dr. Flynn is a believer in ongoing training, and as such participates in continuing education via the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and others. She is the author of a number of publications including co-authorship of a well-received book on social anxiety treatment.
